The paraprofessional will assist one or more teachers in the implementation of the instructional program and shall perform all the tasks, responsibilities and duties as assigned by the teacher(s) Responsibilities: Assist with activities addressing standards that will advance students’ level of content knowledge; provides support under the guidance of the teacher to address student needs; helps students use appropriate instructional resources to support learning; maintains high standards and expectations for all students; confers with supervisor(s) or specialist(s) when assistance is needed in supporting students’ learning process; participates in training sessions as provided by the Hoosac Valley Regional School District; model appropriate behavior for students; maintains appropriate standards of behavior, mutual respect, and safety in classroom; performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned by teacher/building principal/Director of Student Services Required knowledge, skills & abilities: Demonstrates an understanding, and receptive attitude toward students; ability to carry out assigned duties safely and effectively; ability to successfully use behavior management techniques; ability to follow written and oral directions of classroom teacher/ building administrator,; ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community; understand confidentiality requirements regarding student academic, special education and medical records |
