Description:

JOB SUMMARY: The Manufacturing Engineer will focus on our fabrication processes, including, but not limited to, CAM/Plasma CNC table, forming, welding, and grinding. The foundation of this role will be developing, implementing, and maintaining optimal, cost-effective processes and documentation, as well as process improvement, process documentation, quality initiatives, and technology acquisition.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards
  • Lead process improvement and cost reduction initiatives
  • Evaluate equipment and tools for efficiency improvements, monitor OEE
  • Design and implement new tooling
  • Work with vendors to determine tool/technology specifications and arrange for the purchase of equipment, materials, or parts and evaluate products according to specifications and quality standards
  • Estimate production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions
  • Assist in quality improvement by documenting problems, determining root causes, and implementing preventative measures
  • Create and update Standard Work Instructions (SWIs) for documentation of assembly and repair procedures
  • Carry out process improvement, problem resolution, and project management in an effective and timely manner
  • Create and conduct process training for new and current employees

ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist with SolidWorks Models/drawings and Bill of Materials
  • Understand and comply with safety and environmental policies
  • Maintain confidentiality and observe data protection and associated guidelines where appropriate
  • Adhere to company policies
  • Other duties as assigned

INTERACTION WITH:

  • Most departments, including but not limited to, Design Engineering, Production, Facilities and Quality
  • Equipment vendors

EXPERIENCE:

  • Strong CNC Plasma, welding, metal forming, and assembly experience
  • Capital equipment selection and justification
  • Visual Management, Day by Hour charts, kaizen, setting up Kanban replenishment and Cell/Value Stream layout

EXPERIENCE (cont’d):

  • Overhead cranes and forklifts
  • Work as a team with Engineering, Operations, Sales & Marketing and Finance
  • SolidWorks and CAD software skills and experience a plus
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Fixture, work holding, tool, and gauge design and manufacture
  • DFMEA experience.
  • Two (2) years of Manufacturing Engineering required
  • Four (4) years of relevant experience preferred

EDUCATION:

  • College education or Trade school required
  • Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Technology or Industrial Engineering preferred

  • Must be able to climb into, onto, and under the vehicle
  • Vision a minimum of 20/40 with or without corrective lenses
  • Good hearing
