Description:

JOB SUMMARY:  As a Nesting Technician, you will be responsible for optimizing the nesting process in our manufacturing operations for CNC cut tables of all steel products. Your primary focus will be utilizing ProNest software to create efficient nesting solutions that minimize material waste and enhance productivity. You will work closely with the Production and Engineering teams to ensure that all nesting requirements are met per the project specifications.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Utilize ProNest software to create, edit, and optimize nesting layouts for various materials and cutting processes.
  • Analyze project specifications and requirements via Work Order and inspect 3D model for required nesting parts before running nesting automation.
  • Inspect nests to 3D model and WO to ensure all parts are present and in correct quantities and materials.
  • Place nesting layout in a designated location for distribution.
  • Work with ProNest to optimize material utilization when nesting vehicles, resulting in minimal waste and scrap.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any nesting-related issues that arise during production.
  • Identify areas of process improvement, cost and waste reduction.
  • Train and support team members on ProNest software and nesting best practices.
  • Work in an efficient and timely manner to ensure that deadlines are met.

ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Maintain confidentiality and observe data protection and associated guidelines where appropriate
  • Understand and comply with safety and environmental policies
  • Assigned projects of fixing data that effect nesting software on 3d models
  • Assigned drawing tasks in SolidWorks assisting Design Engineers
  • Assist in Laser cutting and 3D printing tasks
  • Other duties as assigned

INTERACTION WITH:

  • Production Department
  • Engineering Department

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 1 years’ experience in manufacturing and/or design
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience operating computers and their processes

EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Working knowledge of and AutoCAD and ProNest is preferred
  • Familiarity with CAD software and cutting processes is a plus
  • Ability to handle multiple projects concurrently while maintaining scheduled deadlines.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to collaboratively work in a team environment within muti discipline departments.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities
  • Basic math skills required
  • Reading abilities required (Including blueprints and schematics)
  • Follow safety and materials policies and procedures

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to pass physical exam
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to climb into, onto and under vehicle
  • Extended periods of sitting, standing, bending, squatting and kneeling
  • Vision a minimum 20/40 with or without corrective lenses
  • Good hearing
