Description:

JOB SUMMARY: The Frame Modifier is responsible for the dismantling and welding of vehicles to prepare them for rebuild

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Remove OEM components from the vehicles cab
  • Remove the cab
  • Add multiple components to prepare the chassis for the body installation
  • Move rear axles and shocks, replace front and rear suspension
  • Reinforce suspension to ensure the ability to maintain weight capacity
  • Weld components and parts to ensure modification specifications
  • Requisition parts and equipment as necessary.
  • Liaise with supervisor on problems to achieve efficient repair
  • Maintain a clean and tidy work area
  • Complete all documentation including inspection sheets, certificates, and receipts applying signatures as appropriate
  • Identify abnormalities and repairs required as result of internal actions and advise the supervisor accordingly
  • Identify areas of process improvement, cost and waste reduction
  • Work in an efficient and timely manner
  • Undertake relevant training and development as required
  • Carry out work orders within a realistic time line ensuring that deadlines are met.
  • Maintain cooperative working relationships, and demonstrate sensitivity to and respect for a diverse population
  • Record all hours worked accurately

ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for the cleanliness and maintenance of the facility
  • Receive deliveries
  • Assist in the loading and unloading of cargo and materials.
  • Adhere to and carry out existing work practices, procedures and policies
  • Maintain confidentiality and observe data protection and associated guidelines where appropriate
  • Understand and comply with safety and environmental policies
  • Other duties as assigned

INTERACTION WITH:

  • Parts Department as well as numerous levels of internal staff within a variety of departments
  • Driver and delivery persons

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience

EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent

CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Fork Truck certified
  • Welding certification
  • Experience and ability to become certified in crane operation

  • Must be able to climb into, onto and under vehicle
  • Extended periods of sitting, standing, bending, squatting and kneeling
  • Vision a minimum 20/40 with or without corrective lenses
  • Good hearing
