JOB SUMMARYReporting to the Branch Manager, the Head Teller is primarily responsible supervising all Teller positions to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the teller line.  Duties may include assigning workflows, training tellers, monitoring customer service standards, and ensuring processes are in compliance with Bank policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Maintains working knowledge of all products offered by the Bank and the corresponding policies and procedures
  • Performs a variety of customer transactions in accordance to Bank policies and procedures.
  • Maintains working knowledge of all banking regulations.
  • Actively adheres and promotes security practices and guidelines (secure work station, keys, combinations, customer information, etc.) and regulatory compliance.
  • Processes large amounts of cash in an organized, timely, and accurate manner.  Balances own cash drawer daily within the prescribed balancing guidelines. 
  • Adheres to safe deposit box procedures and guidelines.
  • Responsible for daily office work to ensure proper balancing of branch and timely delivery of work to appropriate departments.
  • Works with tellers to resolve more complex transactions, correct errors, and assist with difficult customer requests with superior customer service principles.
  • Approves customer transaction exceptions as needed following Bank policy and procedures.
  • Promotes and maintains superior level of customer service from all tellers.  Demonstrates superior customer service skills at all times to promote a positive image for the Bank through face to face communication and telephone etiquette.
  • Actively refers bank products to support the customer’s needs or wants.  Promotes the Bank’s products and seeks to broaden the customer base. 
  • Ensures that the appearance of the teller line area is neat, organized, and in accordance with Bank policy.
  • Oversees the execution of daily banking procedures as related to the teller line and ATM.
  • Responsible for oversight of the teller line audit process on a monthly basis.  Ensures compliance of teller line with all related banking regulations, procedures, reporting, and record keeping.  Branch Manager will review and sign off.
  • Assists the Branch Manager with the development of staff.


OTHER FUNCTIONS

  • Cross trained in deposit origination to assist in upholding customer service standards during the absence of the Branch Manager or Assistant Branch Manager, or as needed.
  • Provides input for the preparation of teller staff performance reviews.
  • Performs other duties as needed or assigned.
Requirements:

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

  • Possess a High School diploma or its equivalent
  • Two to Three years banking and cash handling experience
  • Perform as a team player, displaying a positive and professional attitude toward customers and co-workers.
  • General math skills:  adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing.
  • Excellent communication skills to be concise, clear, and tactful.
  • Must possess supervisory skills – Current Branch Manager will be required to provide a written recommendation explaining details and siting specific examples of the employee’s abilities and experience with supervision, training, and operational skills (if an internal candidate).
  • Successful completion of Principles of Banking.  Completion of Supervisors of Tellers is strongly recommended.
  • Ability to read, speak, and write the English language.
  • Schedule flexibility and able to travel to any Pittsfield Cooperative location as needed.
  • Ability to work Saturdays as scheduled
