Classroom Support Paraprofessional

2023 - 2024 School year

The Hancock School District seeks a Classroom Support Paraprofessional to work as a classroom paraprofessional providing as needed support to an identified student in a  neighboring school district (Richmond). 

Qualifications: 

  • High School Diploma
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Strong Communication Skills                                                               
  • Strong Organizational Skills
  • Ability to multitask
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively under the direction of others 
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with others

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the teacher with classroom instructional tasks as assigned, including reading and listening to students, direct instruction, and reviewing  work. 
  • Support an identified student as needed with academic and social emotional needs.
  • Work with students individually and in small groups to assist with the learning of content and skills introduced by the teacher. 
  • Observe student behavior and learning, communicating observations regularly with the teacher.
  • Assist the teacher with clerical work, record keeping, and preparation of instructional materials, set up of learning centers, preparation of displays and bulletin boards, and other non instructional tasks as assigned. 
  • Assist the teacher and students with setup and cleanup from activities. 
  • Assist students with movement among activities. 
  • Assist the teacher with supervision of students.
  • Assist children with preparing for and moving to other classrooms, school activities, outside activities and arrival and departure from school. 
  • Assist the teacher in handling interruptions and emergencies.
  • Participate in appropriate in-service and workshop programs and attend required meetings.
  • Perform any duties and responsibilities that are within the scope of employment, as assigned by the teacher or principal

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 6.33 hours per day
