Williams College seeks an energetic and experienced Deputy Title IX and Non-Discrimination Coordinator to support the implementation of Title IX regulations and the College's non-discrimination and policies and processes. The successful candidate will join an energetic team in the Office of Institutional Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Institutional Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, the Deputy Title IX & Non-Discrimination Coordinator (Deputy Coordinator) is responsible for helping to ensure compliance with federal and state non-discrimination laws, including those pertaining to gender-based discrimination and sexual harassment, and compliance with the College's related policies. The Deputy Coordinator is also responsible for assisting in the assessment, investigation and adjudication of matters of equity and non-discrimination.

Responsibilities:
  • Provides subject-matter expertise on the requirements of federal and state civil rights laws (e.g., Title IX, VAWA, Campus SaVE, Title VI, and non-discrimination).
  • Represents the Title IX Office and acts in the absence of the Assistant Vice President / Title IX Coordinator.
  • Receives and responds to complaints of sex discrimination, sexual misconduct, sexual harassment, non-discrimination, and bias.
  • Coordinates and facilitates neutral processes (e.g., no-contact orders, investigations, hearings, informal resolution); manages external investigators.
  • Manages cases and utilizes case management systems.
  • Participates in the development and review of policies on campus.
  • Develops and conducts training and workshops for campus constituents; and assesses programs.
  • Serves as a resource to individuals, groups, and administrative/academic units.
  • Serves as a main point of contact for Registered Student Organizations.
  • Participates in monitoring and disclosure processes; maintains records.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Possesses strong collaborative skills and the ability to work effectively with campus constituents, external partners and vendors.
  • Ability to anticipate problems and take steps to mitigate or address them.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with individuals and groups.
  • Possesses deep knowledge of federal and state non-discrimination, sexual misconduct, and civil rights laws.
  • Knowledgeable about culture, identity, diversity, equity, and inclusion; ability to effectively partner with members of a diverse student body, faculty, and staff.
  • Excellent verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong presentation and training skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required; Masters degree or J.D. preferred.
  • Minimum of two to five years of experience investigating bias or discrimination complaints, reports of sexual misconduct, and/or civil rights issues.


Additional Information

Hybrid work arrangements may be available (up to 2 days per week remote) after an initial in-person period of 6 months for employees based in NY, MA, CT, or VT; subject to review and revision as policy evolves.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis; for optimal consideration apply by August 30, 2024. Pay range is $85,000-$90,000, commensurate with experience.
