Description: | POSITION SUMMARY
The campground manager oversees the City-owned Historic Valley Campground. The manager will be responsible for managing the day to day operations of the 100-site facility, situated on 26 acres surrounding picturesque Windsor Lake in the heart of the Berkshires, close to downtown North Adams with access to an array of recreational and cultural offerings.
The responsibilities and duties listed below are illustrations of the various types of work performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position.
PRIMARY DUTIES
Duties include seasonal and transient campsite site reservations, general facility upkeep and maintenance, cash management, security, and advertising and promotion of the facility.
The Manager is required to be on-site during the camping season and will be expected to be “on-call” to respond to emergencies. In addition to the financial compensation package, the Manager will be provided with a complimentary RV campsite, including utilities, for the duration of employment. |
| Requirements: | EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
The successful applicant should have strong management skills, accurate bookkeeping skills, the ability to use various software programs, the motivation to work independently while exercising good judgment, and the capacity to perform the physical requirements of facility upkeep by doing basic maintenance and repairs. The manager regularly interacts with campground residents, city staff, and the general public, therefore strong customer service and communication skills are essential.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
The work may require motor skills for activities such as using office equipment, including but not limited to telephones, personal computers, handheld technology. Duties may also include using tools and equipment necessary to perform basic cleaning, repairs, and maintenance. May be required to lift objects such as tools and campsite equipment weighing approximately 60 pounds.
