The Assistant Coach will assist the Head Coach in the overall management of a Division III program.  They will support the head coach and other paid and volunteer assistant coaches in efforts to plan, coach, develop individual and team technical and tactical skill, implement, and administer the program to meet College and department objectives.  They will assist with recruiting quality student-athletes, scouting opponents, and administrative duties, including but not limited to: student-athlete academic monitoring, liaison between sports medicine, strength and conditioning, field preparation and maintenance, travel, organization of practices and all home games, camps, fund-raising, and other duties assigned by the Head Coach. 



They will also be responsible for team and individual compliance to training rules and bylaws which govern the program; this will include monitoring student-athlete conduct to ensure that the behavior of the athletes reflects favorably on the program, the department, the College, and on the students themselves. 



The Assistant Coach will be a valued member of the Athletics Staff and will contribute to the mission of MCLA and the athletic department.  The successful candidate will demonstrate an understanding of, and commitment to, the Division III ideal and the important role that intercollegiate athletics can play in higher education. The Assistant Coach will conform to the highest standards of professional conduct regarding compliance with department and College policies and procedures and adherence to the rules and regulations of the NCAA and MASCAC, of which the College is a member.  Contribute to the maintenance of good working relationships with all staff, student-athletes, and external constituents through (a) a positive and constructive approach to all tasks, (b) respect for the competencies of others, and (c) appropriate conflict resolution behavior.

Required: High School Diploma

Preferred: Bachelor's/Master's degree in physical education or related area; coaching certification



Experience Requirements:



Required:



  • Demonstrated sport knowledge and high school playing experience as a minimum
  • One to three years of high school or college coaching as an assistant or head coach.


Preferred:         



  • Collegiate competitive playing experience
  • Three to five years of experience as an assistant coach or head coach
