The Becket-Chimney Corners YMCA is an independent YMCA located on 1500 acres in the beautiful Berkshires of Western MA close to nationally renowned cultural and historic attractions such as Jacob’s Pillow and Tanglewood. Chimney Corners Camp, Camp Becket and the Travel and Service Program, Becket Day Camp and the Berkshire Outdoor Center are the five primary program focuses for the Becket-Chimney Corners YMCA.

Camp Becket for boys and Chimney Corners Camp for girls are traditional resident camps with rich traditions and commitment to character development. Program offerings are in aquatics, athletics, theater, dance, creative arts, horseback riding, service learning, adventure trips, team building and high ropes. Our Travel & Service Programs offer a unique life experience to teens and our Berkshire Outdoor Center offers a wide-range of year-round programs for individuals, families and groups.

We are conveniently located off Route 8 past Jacobs Pillow; 15 minutes from center of Lee.

Summary of the Position  The Office Administrator performs key administrative and clerical support functions to all areas of Becket-Chimney Corners YMCA to ensure smooth day to day operations in the front office and beyond. As a member of the administrative team, they provide support to the senior team and related departments as various tasks are assigned and prioritized. As the first point of contact for many visitors to our administration office, a welcoming and helpful approach is critical for all who contact us either in person or by phone. Key traits for success are a friendly, efficient, respectful, helpful, and business-like attitude. 

Essential Job Functions  A broad array of administrative and clerical tasks including but not limited to:

  • Responsible for opening and securely closing the administration building and ensuring office coverage during business hours (Monday-Friday, 8am to 4pm) and occasional evenings and weekends to meet program needs.

  • Serves as primary receptionist to greet visitors, answer phones, and process incoming and outgoing mail.

  • Provides administrative support to the senior team in various projects and tasks as assigned .

  • Maintains organization and cleanliness of the front office, including ordering and organizing office supplies as needed.

  • Assists co-workers in using and trouble-shooting use of office equipment and serves as liaison to vendors for office equipment for scheduled maintenance, repairs, and lease renewals. 

  • Provides administrative and clerical support to the CEO, CFO, and Operations team as assigned.

  • During the summer months, assist with the smooth operation of program offices and ensure communication with the administrative team.

Rate of Pay and Benefits: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour based on experience. Hours: 30- 40 hours per week onsite; with consideration for flexible work schedule

  • Associates degree with one to three years experience or High School degree, GED, or HiSET with 3-5 years of relevant prior experience required
  • Administrative and clerical skills including organizing files and records
  • Demonstrated competence in using Google Suite, Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, and databases
  • Knowledge of accounting office procedures and terminology desired
  • Excellent customer service including communication and interpersonal skills to effectively work with colleagues and represent the organization to others
  • Must possess a growth mindset, be flexible to changes in priorities, be detail oriented, organized, and have a commitment to the goals of the organization.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and show independent judgment
  • Ability to work on a team, relate and work well with others
