Description:

Primary Duties Include (but are not limited to):
-Talent Acquisition -Build recruitment and retention plans that focus on hiring and retaining professional and classified staff with a particular focus on hiring and retaining individuals of color.
-Staffing Support - Interpret and implement policies regarding licensure, classification and assignment; monitor evaluations of all staff; develop and maintain adequate record-keeping systems for all personnel, personnel actions, contract disputes and legal proceedings concerning employee-management relations; lead labor negotiations with several bargaining units represented by two different labor unions, arbitration, and administrative hearings; assist personnel with work-related concerns; oversight of employment law; compliance and benefits administration; assure compliance with employment laws and regulations; provide leadership and guidance in fostering employee morale and supportive workplace cultures; ensure all staff are provided with an opportunity to participate in an exit interview and survey; assist in recommending and implementing actions that are as a result of the exit interview data.
Requirements:
-A deep knowledge of and experience working with constituents around issues of race, ethnicity, disability, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, religion, socioeconomic status, nationality, and first-generation status. Our expectation is that the successful candidate will have experience with and excel at working in a community that is broadly diverse. The candidate will have demonstrated success in working with historically underrepresented or underserved groups and an understanding of explicit and implicit bias and associated power dynamics. The candidate will collaborate with others in the Pittsfield Public Schools and be able to work with many different individuals, offices, and units.
-5-10 years of progressively responsible human resources experience with a labor relations background required, preferably in an educational setting; proven track record of successful recruitment and retention of employees, impactful continuous improvement initiatives, and compliance with employment law. Knowledge of the state and federal employment law are also critical skills. Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree, HR certification (SHRM or PHR/SPHR), and bilingual skills preferred.
