Description:
Berkshire Country Day School is seeking a full-time 1st and 2nd-grade mixed-age classroom teacher for the school year 2019-2020. Looking for a creative, experienced, and confident teacher to join our faculty team and support the school’s mission and curricular goals.
The ideal candidate will bring a history of effective team collaboration and demonstrated creativity and innovation to the teaching and the learning process.
Requirements:
Desired qualifications:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Elementary Education
• Relevant teaching experience, ideally in 1st and 2nd grades
• Experience teaching skills in reading foundations/early literacy
• Responsive Classroom experience desired, not required
• Creativity and imagination; demonstrate a joy for teaching and learning
• Experience and comfort with the social-emotional aspects of classroom teaching (managing issues as they arise, team-building, exploring age-appropriate matters, etc.)
• Strong communication skills, written and oral

Roles & responsibilities include:
• Design, plan, implement and assess learning experiences in reading, writing, math and social studies/science
• Establish and maintain a healthy and trusting learning environment, fostering and nurturing all relationships
• Provide differentiated instruction for the age levels based on individual needs
• Regular communication with families about individual progress, classroom happenings and day to day matters as needed
• Guide students in their social-emotional development through relevant and engaging classroom routines and culture
• Participate in the school community, including faculty meetings and committee work, school duties, and activities such as assemblies and field trips
