Williams College, a Division III institution and a member of the New England Small College Athletics Conference (NESCAC), is pleased to announce an opening for an Assistant Coach of Men’s Crew. This is a full time, 10-month term appointment with the possibility of renewal. The position comes with full benefits, including college contributions to a retirement plan, health/dental/vision insurance, and a full meal plan. The position provides full tuition-remission of graduate school after six months of employment.

Williams Men’s Crew, winners of the 2022 IRA National Men’s Division 3 Rowing Championship, has a history of sustained success and consistently ranks as one of the top Division 3 Men’s Rowing programs in the country. The program is building a new boathouse scheduled to open in the spring of 2024. Responsibilities

This position is designed to support the head coach in administering all aspects of the Men’s Crew program.  The assistant coach provides development-focused coaching and guidance to novice and experienced rowing athletes, ultimately preparing them for spring racing.  The assistant coach manages the program's on and off-campus recruiting efforts, including outreach, communication, database management, and arranging campus visits for prospective student-athletes.  The assistant coach plays a large role in equipment maintenance, boathouse organization, travel logistics, and more. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • Collegiate rowing or coxing experience required
  • Junior or collegiate rowing coaching experience preferred
  • Thoughtful interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively
  • Knowledge of (or willingness to learn) and commitment to NCAA Div III and NESCAC rules and regulations
  • Experience and/or ability to recruit quality student-athletes in an academically demanding environment
  • Successful candidates will possess self-motivation, an openness to learning new methods, and a passion for coaching and mentorship of a diverse student-athlete population
  • Valid driver's license is required

This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
