Williams College seeks a full-time Community Engagement Coordinator. The Community Engagement Coordinator will support the Clery Compliance Manager by designing, coordinating and facilitating community building events, and harm repair conversations among Williams College community members that promote a deepening sense of belonging, trust and connection on campus.

Responsibilities

This position will also be responsible for assisting with the College’s compliance with minors on campus policies, as well as the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy, and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act) including providing harm reduction and crime prevention education. The Community Engagement Coordinator will also assist with investigations conducted by CSS to maintain a safe and secure learning and work environment that is supportive of the educational goals of Williams College. The Community Engagement Coordinator will be required to support the Clery Compliance Manager by working with the campus community to maintain and ensure compliance with the Clery act.

Additional responsibilities include assisting with department investigations, and serving as a department instructor for topics such as: crime prevention, Rape Aggression Defense (RAD), and Clery compliance. This position will serve as the department Property/Evidence custodian. This complex role also requires maintaining strong collegial relations with all campus constituencies as well as with local officials and law enforcement, fire and emergency medical service providers. As part of community building, this position will also develop the department’s social media platform.  

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and one year experience in safety and security, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Alternative credentials encouraged!
  • The successful applicant must have the ability to work with all members of CSS and the campus community to develop inclusive programming. The candidate will fully develop expectations through design, challenges, and goals for each facilitated conversation. 
  • Familiarity and interest in working with college-age students is strongly preferred as is a commitment to the principles of diversity and inclusion. 
  • Proficiency in GSuite or Microsoft Suite, and social media platforms
  • Oral and written communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively and positively with others are essential. 
  • Valid driver's license required at the time of application.
