Electrical Trades Lead

Williams College is excited to announce an opening for an Electrical Trades Lead Technician. This is a full-time, year-round regular appointment reporting to the Mechanical and Electrical Trades Manager. The schedule for this position will be Monday to Friday 7:am to 3:30 pm. Schedules are subject to change based on the needs of the department, which may include on-call assignments, emergencies, and overtime. 

The Electrical Trades Lead Technician will support the mission of the college to provide a nurturing educational environment. Responsibilities

The Electrical Trades Lead is responsible for assisting the Electrical Trades Foreman with the overseeing of work performed for assigned Electrical Trades support staff. 

This position is responsible for performing work orders related to the maintenance, testing, and operation of all building electrical systems, including but not limited to;

• The electrical campus service, generation and distribution systems, and emergency power-generation systems
• Fire alarm systems, 
• Campus lighting systems including exit and emergency lighting and UPS systems
• Temporary power for inside and outside events,
• Campus Low Voltage systems
• Building elevator and lift electrical systems.
• Other duties assigned by Supervisor. 

Qualifications

• Minimum of five years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Valid Massachusetts Electrical license as a Journeyman Electrician or Electrician D required, or the ability to obtain MA licensing if licensed in another state. 
• Knowledge of maintenance and operation of electrical generation and distribution systems, life and property protection systems, and security and telecommunications systems.  Not limited to but including Notifier fire alarm and S2 security systems preferred. 
• Knowledge of integrated systems technology, troubleshooting alarms, and the ability to review control programs preferred 
• Ability to make decisions based on a clear understanding of NFPA 70E safety protocols, along with general OSHA regulations 
• The ability to work without immediate supervision, lift heavy objects up to 75 pounds with assistance, and work on ladders and lifts 
• This position is required to be accountable for work planning and scheduling, and to have a broad knowledge of all phases of construction and planned maintenance processes including ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and sketches.
• Demonstrated leadership skills, problem-solving and supervisory experience preferred 
• Knowledge of applicable building construction codes, safety regulations, and construction standards.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Computer literacy and valid driver’s license required
