Incumbents of this position will be the first point of contact when someone calls or transmit via radio into the station. Incumbents will be responsible in answering all phone calls, collecting pertinent information using excellent verbal communication skills in a professional polite manner, determine the callers needs and route the call to the proper division within the agency or other service agency. In the event the call results in a call for service it shall be communicated to the assigned Supervisor, Ambulance Unit or Chairvan.
Incumbents will be required to transmit messages from a radio communications base station; monitor various radio frequencies; operate radio transmitting and receiving equipment; maintain records and logs of messages; search files to obtain information; coordinate radio communications; and perform related work as required.
NBEMS operates 24/365 and requires dispatch to be operating during this same time. The schedule determined to be best for operations is:
