2020-43982 - Surface Ship Engineering Project Lead

As a Surface Ship Systems Engineering Project Lead, you’ll participate in requirements analysis, requirements management, functional analysis, performance analysis, system design, trade studies, systems integration and test (verification) in the development and evaluation of networks and information systems. In this role, the Project Lead will work closely with the Deputy DPME and DPME supporting a vast number of different tasks such as: leading a project that spans multiple IPT's, being a CAM for a project, backfilling an IPT Lead role, present at customer meetings, drive completion of day-to-day tasks, etc. This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:
Participates in requirements analysis, requirements definition, requirements management, functional analysis, performance analysis, system design, trade studies, systems integration and test (verification), validation and interface definition studies of system elements direct supervision
Researches and analyzes data, such as vendor products, COTS components, GFE/CFE/BFE, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application
Supports the generation of technical engineering products by using the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the system development life cycle
Plans sub tasks for activities described above
Creative, innovative responsibilities requiring advanced decision-making skills
Defines processes for technical platforms, system specifications, input/output and working parameters for hardware and/or software compatibility
Developing professional expertise, applies company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action
Identifies, analyzes and resolves system design weaknesses
Contact with multiple work groups

Surface Ship Systems experience and knowledge
Bachelor’s degree in systems engineering, a related specialized area or field is required (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree. Agile experience preferred.
Department of Defense Secret security clearance is preferred at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
