General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Senior Project Manager within our Strategic Systems (Physical Security) business area who will be responsible for our challenging and diverse Activation Lead role.  This role leads, manages, and coordinates NWS Activations at either/both Customer Field Sites.  This position leads a matrixed staff of over 50 people and requires highly effective communication skills.

This team needs a leader who is energized by being around talented, driven colleagues, and who can manage the support of systems that are critical to our nation’s security.  The team is geographically dispersed, so we need a team-oriented Project Manager who can communicate a clear, consistent vision and then let talented people execute.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:

Develops, defines, and implements cohesive plans that achieve contract requirements and move toward long-term program objectives
Identifies needed resources for projects, defines and assigns major program roles
Balances program risks and opportunities with executable strategies to meet technical requirements and budgets
Leads, Manages, and Coordinates NWS Activations at each Customer Field Site
Interfaces with leadership and customers on both technical and programmatic matters, developing Customer Intimacy to foster a strong, trusting relationship. This includes full transparency, which results in having difficult conversations with our industry partners.
Supports GDMS DPME and IPT leads to clear roadblocks.
Supports the Customer at Headquarters and Customer Field Sites/Activation PMs for specific Activations.
Monitors status of Problem Reports (PR) / Change Requests (CR) / Authorization To Work (ATW) for specific Activations.
Thinks creatively to balance NWS Process and execution priorities.
Prioritizes work as necessary and verifies resources are available and provided on-time to support Activation tasks.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Ability to motivate, lead a matrixed team, and communicate complex ideas clearly
Skilled in proactively communicating issues, impacts, and corrective actions on programs to internal and external representatives
Proficiency in MS Project to manage an Integrated Master Schedule
Ability to evaluate quality of work product to ensure satisfaction of customer requirements
Ability to lead others in team building, conflict resolution, motivation, leadership and advanced risk management
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent is required plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience to meet managerial expectations.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Department of Defense Secret security clearance is preferred, but not required, at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
