MCLA is accepting applications for an Accountant to perform general accounting duties that include, but are not limited to: monthly bank and general ledger reconciliations; monthly sales tax filings and year end 1099 reporting; assist with preparing financial schedules and reports; enter part-time and student payroll data; other general accounting functions as assigned. DETAILED STATEMENT OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: •Reconciliation of monthly bank statements to cash accounts and general ledger account reconciliations •Encumber, update, reconcile and report on all part-time and student payrolls. •Assist in the preparation of year end 1099 forms to be sent to subcontractors •Assist with preparing and filing electronically monthly sales tax returns •Monitor MMARS accounts, process the 900 and 901 fund accounts (Trust and Federal) and report as required in the appropriate state accounting systems. •Enter A/P invoices and maintain vendor maintenance in MMARS system. •Assist in the preparation and distribution of budget and financial reports. •Assist departments with contracts and in the purchasing of supplies and equipment. •Assist with online ordering for departments without procurement cards. •Assist with reviewing and processing accounts payable, including working with College departments and vendors to resolve discrepancies. •Assist in the monitoring of grants and reconciliation of grant funds. •Utilize knowledge to increase efficiency and investigate new ways of completing work more efficiently. •All other duties as assigned. | |
Requirements: | |
•BA/BS in Accounting, Business or Finance required. •Minimum of three years of accounting or financial experience. •Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form. •Demonstrated proficiency in accounting and financial software packages. •Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft suite products, specifically with Excel. •This is a security sensitive position. Ability to handle information in a confidential manner is imperative in this position. Additional Information: This is a full-time, benefits-eligible, position in the APA bargaining unit. Salary range is $42,000-$45,000.
