Williams College is pleased to announce that it is accepting applications for an External Relations Coordinator in the '68 Center for Career Exploration. This is a full-time, year-round, regular appointment. The '68 Center for Career Exploration is dedicated to the success of Williams' students. It is a one-stop shop for student career exploration, internship and job searching, resume critiques, interviewing advice and networking. The '68 Center for Career Exploration is a member of the Office of College Relations, which includes Alumni Engagement, the Development Office and Advancement Operations.

As part of the 68 Center Operations & External Relations team, the External Relations Coordinator reports directly to the Associate Director of External Relations and is integral in providing outstanding service to a large, highly valued employer and alumni community. The successful candidate will be service-oriented, organized, energetic, welcoming, independent, unflappable, and tech-savvy with a collaborative spirit as part of the '68 Center for Career Exploration and the Office of College Relations.

Responsibilities

The External Relations Coordinator will perform a wide range of employer relationship-building and support activities including:
  • Communicate with employers, responding to inquiries in a timely manner via phone, email, and in person.
  • Meet with employers to strategize and schedule their employer recruiting initiatives
  • Manage logistics for employer events including on-campus and/or virtual interviews, information sessions, and Job & Internship Fairs. Tasks may include: managing Handshake event creation, reserving interview room space, communicating logistics leading up to the event, and appropriate follow-up after the event. Attendance at many of these events is required (occasional nights and weekends).
  • Compose marketing materials for employer events and initiatives; collaborate with the Communications & Events Specialist to ensure an effective flow of communications
  • Support the employer, alumni, staff, and student users of the Handshake or similar careers services management (CSM) platform; troubleshoot concerns as needed.
  • Assist with researching and cultivating new employer prospects as needed.
  • Assist the external relations team with data input and tracking within the Less Annoying CRM (LACRM) System, Slate and Handshake.
  • Assist with compiling and validating data, present scheduled and ad-hoc reports of external relations engagement metrics both internally and externally as needed.
  • Participate in select 68 Center activities such as staff and OCR meetings, retreats, career programming, tabling, etc.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as needed.


Qualifications
  • At least 2 years of office experience or Bachelor's degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience (which may include internships).
  • Experience providing exceptional customer service to constituents and individuals of high value to an organization while fostering long-term relationships.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret individual needs, multi-task, and solve problems while using good judgment to balance the sometimes competing needs of various stakeholders.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a larger team.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), including the ability to connect with diverse audiences.
  • Solid detail-oriented time management skills and the ability to respond quickly to a high volume of email correspondence and campus engagement requests from employers and alumni.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google applications, and Zoom, general database principles (knowledge of Airtable a plus) and providing basic instructions to systems users.
  • Proficiency in Excel preferred, with demonstrated ability to create and present basic reports using pivot tables and graphs

Pay range is from $18.75 to $22.00 per hour, commensurate with experience.
