The Pulp and Paper Group designs and globally markets equipment used in various stages of paper production, from pulp preparation to sheet formation and finishing. It also serves the global market with rebuilding, upgrading and optimization services for existing equipment, as well as the sale of spare parts. The Pulp & Paper division has a Full-time opportunity for an Applications Engineer in our Lenox, MA location.

The primary purpose of the Applications Engineer position is to support the sales efforts for GL&V.

SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Prepare engineering proposals according to the prescribed GL&V format and other products that augment this product line. An emphasis on schedule, accuracy and completeness is very important.
• Perform accurate engineering calculations as required. These will include basic strength of material problems for stress, deflection, etc.; drive horsepower and brake sizing, and dynamics problems of critical speed, natural frequency and vibration.
• Select appropriate components for given applications situations. This requires an understanding of the product line and how various components relate to paper grades. Proper solutions will take into account cost effectiveness, customer preferences, as well as the correct technical approach.
• Follow up completed proposals to keep track of project status, purchase dates, etc. Requote as needed.
• Prepare necessary information to support Product Specialists in creating proposal write-ups.
Requirements:
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree (B. S.) in Mechanical, Chemical or Controls Engineering from four-year College or university; and/or three year design experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of basic engineering calculations is required along with an understanding of specific product related functions, such as time study calculations.
• Minimum of three years’ experience working in recent release of AutoCAD, including 3D & FEA.
• Knowledge of the current product lines & historical knowledge is very desirable.
• Above average computer skills (e-mail, word processing, spreadsheets, presentation graphics, and business systems)
• Strong organization skills and capability to handle multiple and changing priorities
