-Bachelor's degree preferred.
-Twelve months of clinical education in a school of medical technology or its equivalent accepted by certification agencies.
-MT (ASCP) Medical Technologist (Board of Registry) or CLS (NCA) Clinical Laboratory Scientist (National Certification Agency) or CLIA approved equivalent.
-One year experience in an approved laboratory, the internship year is applicable.
-Independent judgment and initiative required to schedule, organize, and plan work.
-Teach Medical technology students how to process specimens and answer computer related questions.
-Responsible for care and accuracy in collection and labeling specimens.
-Flexibility and adaptability in emergency situations including working additional hours or shifts.
-Ability to work efficiently, accurately, and alertly for extended periods of time, and under stress, to ensure against errors.
-Above average manual dexterity.
-Effective communication skills, use of computer systems, listening, speaking, writing and reading.
-Knowledge of HIS and LIS.
-Assorted laboratory analyzers and equipment appropriate to scope of position and dependent upon current technology.
-Must meet the physical requirements of the position, as outlined in the job description available through the Human Resources department.
