About Us:

The Children’s Study Home serves children, adolescents, and families with special needs throughout the Pioneer Valley and Cape Cod areas. The children we serve are often struggling to cope with behavioral, psychiatric, and cognitive issues related to the experiences they have survived. Our staff assesses their needs and develops individualized service plans that foster recovery, growth, and wellness.

Where we Work:

The Children’s Study Home serves children and families throughout Western Massachusetts and Cape Cod areas. Additionally, we serve children referred from Central Massachusetts as well as the Metro Boston area.

Our Partners:

We are proud to work closely with the Departments of Children & Families (DCF), Elementary & Secondary Education (DESE), and Early Education & Care (EEC) to serve children and families in need. We also work with local public school districts seeking Special Education for their students.

To provide all case management, crisis and counseling services for school related matters. Position includes responsibility for day students as assigned.


1. Provide all case management services as required such as maintaining regular contact with parents, public school liaisons, other referral agencies, and arrange for support wrap around services.

2. Provide counseling and crisis intervention services on school related matters.

3. Act as case coordinator for the provision of all services to assigned clients; including the development of timely service plans; case reviews, transitional planning and all other meetings/conferences necessary for the service delivery system.

4. Coordinate all intake activities for the program including scheduling of intake appointment, intake reports, and all other matters relating to the intake conference and post intake planning meetings.

5. Provide timely and written intake, service plan, quarterly, termination, etc. reports for all assigned clients.

6. Work cooperatively with teachers and child care workers as appropriate.

7. Maintain contact with appropriate collateral staff in public, private, and alternative programs and work collaboratively with other agencies involved in the provision of services to the Mill Pond students.

8. Communicate clearly and orderly on-going treatment issues for each child and family, to include written documentation assessing the individual child and family’s developmental treatment plan daily, quarterly, and yearly.

9. Demonstrate a continued awareness and commitment to cultural diversity, religious and personal values, and traditions of the persons served and their families in order to accomplish the mission of the organization.

10. Demonstrate a continued awareness and knowledge of Agency policies, practices, and procedures, and adhere to Agency regulations, rules and protocols.

11. Utilize/perform appropriate and approved therapeutic restraint techniques with clients when deemed necessary.

12. Perform all assigned duties as directed by immediate supervisor.

1. Master’s degree with a minimum of three years relevant experience
2. Massachusetts Department of Education School Adjustment Counselor's license
2. Requires reliable transportation and current valid driver’s license
3. Ability to work cooperatively and closely with DCF and collateral agencies
4. Must have good interpersonal skills and ability to work with a diverse population
5. Must have good organizational and communication skills and be able to manage multiple situations at one time.
