Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assess the health needs of students and develop individualized health care plans as needed.
- Manage a comprehensive school health program consistent with the Massachusetts guidelines, regulations, and statutes governing nursing and school health.
- Organize and implement state-mandated programs such as immunization surveillance and screening programs (vision, hearing, postural, etc.)
- Provide health care services to students, including administering medication, monitoring vital signs, and managing chronic health conditions.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records for students.
- Collaborate with parents, teachers, and other school staff to ensure that students receive appropriate health care services.
- Provide health education and support to students and families on topics such as nutrition, exercise, and disease prevention.
- Ensure that the school environment is safe and healthy for students, and make recommendations for improvements as needed.
- Participate in meetings and committees related to student health and wellness.
- Complete all required state and local paperwork.
- Maintain current knowledge of health care practices and regulations related to school nursing.
- Provide formal health education and instruction to children within classrooms, under direction of the Principal.
Terms of Employment: 185 days.
